AUTHORS INTERVIEW
This is your second book, and again there’s a charming main character who is to investigate and unveil a mystery. Tell something more about him and his creation.
Snowdon: Jason Clay is a Secret Agent, and a playboy who would do anything if the price is right. He loves exciting assignments and has a weakness for beautiful women.I created him because I needed a character who was dashing and suave to play Special Agent Jason Clay.
Your plot is a plausible story, likely to happen in the real world. Did you draw inspiration from any particular current affair event?
Snowdon: Believe it or not, I first used the plot in an unpublished novel that I wrote in 1984. Twenty-three years later, I decided to use the plot again in The Mind of a Genius.
Women are also such an important part in your novel: some of them look like sort of "bond-girls" directing the plot. Tell something more about that and about how female characters looking so seductive are so important in a novel like yours.
Snowdon: Female characters play an important role in a novel, as they add colour and a certain kind of appeal to a novel. I like my female characters to be interesting, as that also makes the book more interesting. Certain parts of the book required a certain kind of female character, and that is where the Bond-girl kind of characters were used.
Which one is the character that you prefer in your novel?
Snowdon: I like all of the characters that were used in the book, so it’s pretty hard for me to name a favourite. I’ll leave it to the readers to decide who is their favourite character. Come to think of it, who is your favourite character?
Which differences do you find between "The mind of a genius" and your previous work "Too young to die"? Any similarities?
Snowdon: While Too Young To Die is a detective thriller and was written in first person singular, The Mind of a Genius is an espionage thriller that was written in third person. The main similarity is that they are both fast-moving thrillers that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
